When enrolling for the classes you will be provided with a PERSONAL PLAN offering advice
and guidance for how to exercise in SAFETY for YOUR needs. This will be guided by the information provided in your Health Form (PARQ). NOTE: it is vital that you alert me to ANY changes to medical history/medications.

MAT PILATES BEGINNERS & LEVEL 1
A Beginners/Level 1 class, introducing the Principles of Pilates alongside accessible and achievable exercises. Each week you will work through a broad and varied range of exercises, designed to promote flexibility and mobility throughout the body. Each block will include mat-based, standing, balance, endurance, strength, and seated exercises. Classes will include the use of equipment and will offer a different routine each week. We will aim to move ALL joints through a varied range of movement (ROM). All exercises can be layered to suit your own ability. Health considerations will be accommodated through safe modifications. This class will conclude with a short RELAXATION/MEDITATION.
MAT PILATES INTERMEDIATE
An Intermediate (Level 2) class which expands upon the knowledge and skills gained at Level 1. This class will assume that you have gained a basic knowledge of the Pilates Principles, including how to exercise safely alongside the ability to demonstrate awareness of any modifications needed for you to exercise in safety. Exercises will be layered to allow a range of levels to be achieved within the class. Each week you will work through a broad and varied range of exercises, designed to promote flexibility and mobility throughout the body. Each block will include mat-based, standing, balance, endurance, strength, and seated exercises. Classes will include the use of equipment and will offer a different routine each week. We will aim to move ALL joints through a varied range of movement (ROM).
MAT PILATES ADVANCED
An advanced (Level 3) class, which expands upon the knowledge and skills gained at Level 2. This class will challenge you further through choreographed sequences of exercises aimed at advanced level. (Exercises can be layered down/modified for safety to accommodate any health considerations). Each week you will work through a broad and varied range of exercises, designed to promote flexibility and mobility throughout the body. Each block will include mat-based, standing, balance, endurance, strength, and seated exercises. Classes will include the use of equipment and will offer a different routine each week. We will aim to move ALL joints through a varied range of movement (ROM)
FALLS PREVENTION & EXERCISE FOR PARKINSONS LEVEL 1
Older adults should be active DAILY and should undertake physical activity to improve muscle strength at least 2 days a week. ALL older adults should minimise the amount of time sitting for extended periods. Sedentary behaviour has been linked to frailty, mortality, and chronic health problems. This class will encourage basic awareness of Falls Prevention and will include Balance, Upper and Lower Body Strength, Dynamic Endurance (cardio ability) and Functional Mobility. I am also trained in the delivery of the PD WARRIOR (PARKINSON’s Exercises) and these will be embedded throughout the class, making the class suitable for ALL. We also end the session with tea/coffee and cakes!
FALLS PREVENTION LEVEL 2
Falls are the second leading cause of unintentional injury deaths worldwide. As a qualified Postural Stability Instructor (PSI) I support the older clients either at risk of falls or those who have already fallen to help prevent future falls. This class will help you build confidence in Balance (you will be encouraged to feel unsteady in a safe environment), gain Upper and Lower Body Strength, develop, and improve Dynamic Endurance (cardio ability) and Functional Mobility. Classes include both standing and seated exercises and are layered to accommodate all levels and health conditions. A variety of equipment is used each week. At Level 2 there is also the opportunity to progress to the floor, learning the skills to enable you to return to seated/standing in the event of a fall. By attending these classes and acquiring these skills you will be able to continue to live independently in your own home and to carry out activities of daily living with confidence and safety. The group exercises are varied, challenging and fun! We also end the session with tea/coffee and cakes!

Please note that for all classes a PARQ (health form MUST be completed and regularly reviewed in the event of any health changes. Please inform me of any changes in medication which may affect your ability to exercise safely).

It is beneficial to attend a 1 – 1 assessment prior to joining a class, this ensures individualised guidance regarding health considerations and any allows for personalised support to ensure that mat work classes are carried out safely. The cost of this is £50.
